The Alpine Beanie
Introducing my newest design, the Alpine Beanie! It's been a few weeks of tedious stitch counting and variable tweaking to get this pattern just right. I was brainstorming a fun stitch for a beanie and I love the aesthetic of the waffle stitch. Upon research, I discovered the diamond waffle stitch and fell into an obsession with it. I knew it would make a gorgeous hat that would compliment a fur pompom with that euro/mountain vibe. Hence the name, Alpine Beanie. I am happy to share with you not only the written pattern, but also the video tutorial, and a collection of wonderful beanies for sale in...
Little Red Crochet Riding Hood
Halloween 2020 is here! And no virus is getting in the way of me making another costume and dressing up on the one day it is socially acceptable. I start planning my costume months in advance, because I make it from scratch and it takes a lot of time. You could say I've been brainstorming this one for years, but felt like this year especially was the right one for the red cape because whatever I end up doing will surely be outside in the cold since indoor gatherings have been off limits pretty much all year. Little red riding hood, a...
Crochet Dog Costumes
My little mutt Rocko got a new halloween costume this year. Introducing the B(rocco)li sweater! This food motived dog will eat anything, even raw broccoli and thus inspiring this costume. It was crocheted in freeform style, meaning I completely winged it and there is no pattern. It's a one of a kind art piece and Rocky loves it. He has been slowly loosing his fur over the years and he needs a sweater to stay warm in the cold months. It's not his first food costume either, here are a few of his handmade halloween costumes from over the years: ...
Chevron Baby Blanket, FREE PATTERN
Upon hearing the news that both my cousin and friend are pregnant, I knew it was time to make a set of baby blankets. Picking out the right yarn is always a fun challenge, I wanted something bright and colorful and preferably variegated so I wouldn't have to keep changing colors. I choose an acrylic so it can be washed in the machine, but I think a superwash merino wool would also be a great choice. I found this yarn, Carnival, and thought it would be perfect. It's a size 3 light weight yarn Crochet hook: 4mm- 4.5mm You can...
The 2020 Temperature Blanket Six Month Update
Happy July! We are officially six months into 2020 and that means I'm half way done with this crochet temperature blanket as well. A temperature blanket is a blanket that records the daily high temperatures in a given location for every day of the year. So everyday I record the high temp, and crochet a row in the color corresponding to that temperature range. It's been a fun project to work on and exciting to watch the colors unfold without having to make creative decisions all the time. A temperature blanket can be done many ways but here are some...
